Banfield Recreation Ground to re-open Saturday 4th July

The Parish Council have issued this announcement regarding the re-opening of the recreation ground: Recreation Ground opening notice July 4th. Note that coronavirus measures are still in place and you are asked to observe the requirements listed on the notice to help minimise any possible spread of Covid-19.

Government grant awarded to Keevil’s village hall

The Village Hall has been given a £10,000 grant from the Government to offset the loss of income and expenses which may be incurred in the future as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. Pat Bartholomew of the village hall committee says “this will certainly help the Hall stay out of financial trouble for the coming year.”

August edition of Parish Magazine

Editor Pat Bartholomew has changed printers for the village magazine and is able to publish an August edition, so if you have anything you’d like included – any thoughts, memories or anecdotes from the last few months could you send them to her by Tuesday 21 July latest): patbartholomew@hotmail.com

Temporary Danger Area Proposal for Keevil Airfield

The Ministry of Defence is exploring the possible expansion of flying operations for the Watchkeeper Tactical Unmanned Air System to include Keevil Airfield. A representative of 47th Regiment Royal Artillery will be attending the public section of the Parish Council Zoom meeting at 7.30pm this coming Monday 6th July and will be available for a short Q&A. The full proposal can be viewed on the Civil Aviation Authority website here. Note that responses and feedback are required by 31st July. If you would like to attend the Parish Council meeting to hear more about the TDA proposal you will still need to register with the clerk, however, we understand you will be able to ask questions during this part of the meeting.

The next Parish Council meeting will again take place via Zoom. Members of the public will be able to join the meeting if they register in advance with the Parish Clerk, and any comments (except those relating to the TDA proposal) must be submitted at least 24 hours beforehand to the clerk, who will read them out. And finally…

Banfield Push Up Challenge-4Buzz wants to give a great big shout-out to Rob Banfield who has just completed a 25-day push up challenge to help raise awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety and depression associated with suicide. Rob completed each day of his challenge in a different local location, finishing yesterday with his legs in the stocks on Stocks Green! Luckily brother Bryan stayed to let him back out 🙂 Well done Rob!

There is also the Wiltshire Wellbeing Hub, plus other support services for mental health and wellbeing in Wiltshire here. Equally, if you know someone might be suffering, sometimes it can help just to give give them a call and let them know you’re there for them.
