SOUP AND PUD LUNCH: SATURDAY 15th JANUARY 2022, 12 – 2.30pm
There will be a new Soup & Pudding lunch in the Village Hall from mid-day until 2.30pm on Saturday 15th January, with a selection of soups on offer (with a bread roll and butter), followed by a choice of puddings, all washed down with a tea or coffee, for the bargain price of £5.00 per head (all profits go to the Church Restoration Fund).
You can bring your own drinks if you wish to supplement your lunch. There will also be a raffle. Tickets available from Geoff West 01380 870425 or g.west3@pobroadband.co.uk
This will be just what you want to lift your spirits after Christmas and cheer you up on a cold winters day. You’d be silly to miss it!!
CHURCH CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING: SATURDAY 4th DECEMBER 2021
The annual Christmas-themed Church Coffee Morning is back this year, in the village hall from 10am – 12noon: Coffee and mince pies, raffle and much more, raising money for the upkeep and day-to-day running of St Leonard’s Church
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS 11th DECEMBER 2021
The lights on the Christmas tree outside the village hall will be switched on at 5.30pm. There will be singing of carols, and a glass of mulled wine and mince pies in the Hall afterwards. The time has been set early so that children can come along and also see their works of art on the tree.
BREAKFAST IN CHURCH CHRISTMAS SPECIAL: SATURDAY 18th DECEMBER 2021
A special Christmas Breakfast which will, naturally, feature all your favourite Christmas Carols, and some of the more popular Christmas songs, to get you fully charged for the season! We will be offering our usual Bacon or Sausage rolls with tea or coffee, but in addition we will have mulled wine and a mince pie to add to your breakfast treat. All for £3.00 per head (all profits go to the Church Restoration Fund).
So, don your Christmas jumpers, your reindeer antlers, Christmas pudding earrings, and anything else seasonal, and come along and join us for breakfast and a good old fashioned Christmas carol sing-a-long. We will start the event slightly later, and run from 9.30 until 11.30am – no need to book, just come along and enjoy!
CAROL SINGING AROUND THE VILLAGE: TUESDAY 21st DECEMBER 2021
Open to all villagers, the more the merrier!
Carol singers are invited to assemble at the Church at 6.45pm where there will be mulled wine before we set off on our annual carol singing adventure round the village. The walk will not be too long, stopping at most of the usual places (see a previous year’s list below).
Remember, no collections are made and families, children and adults are most welcome to come along, you can join or leave the “Christmas Waits” at any time during the evening.
If we are due to pass near your house and you would like us to stop and sing a carol, do phone to let me know. If you are able to come along to share in this village Christmas tradition you will find it useful to bring a torch with you and should you be unsure what is happening because very bad weather is forecast then please phone me on 870325 for an update.
I’m sure like me you look forward to this annual tradition when we have the opportunity to turn away from some of the razzmatazz of the shops and walk under the night sky singing traditional carols. What could be better? Jane Knowles
