Please help take care of our bats

For many years now, bats have roosted in our church. However, when returning at dawn from their night of munching on midges and mosquitoes, some are tired and end up roosting in the doorframe. So when you open or close the church door, please check carefully to ensure you don’t crush a bat against the door frame.

If you do find one on the door or on the floor, carefully pick it up using the cloth (to avoid getting bitten) kept just inside the door for this purpose, and lay it on a windowsill or ledge inside the church. You can leave it in the cloth, it will find its own way out.

Please read the further instructions on the noticeboard in the church porch, and thank you for helping us conserve these rare and protected species
