Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with village news during extraordinary times. And never mind the national picture – or frankly the weather – the news coming into Buzz is definitely on the up!
Mindful Monday and resumption of Church services…
St Leonard’s Church will be open again this coming Monday morning 6th July 10am-noon for quiet personal prayer and reflection, probably for the last time… HOWEVER the good news is that Church services will be re-commencing on Sunday 12 July – with all due precautions in place: there’ll be no singing or Communion, and we’ll maintain social distancing at all times, only using the designated pews (where prayer books and bibles will be available, and will not be touched again for a week), and hand sanitiser at the entry to the Church.
Foodbank Friday
The generous response from villagers over the last few weeks has been amazing and everyone involved is so very grateful! Janet will be going again this coming Friday 10th July, so place any donations in the collection box in the porch ideally by Thursday afternoon.
Items like soap, toothpaste and personal hygiene products are ALWAYS in great demand, also right now the Food bank would really appreciate tinned meat, tinned rice pudding, and tinned or cartons of custard.
Banfield Recreation Ground
Play equipment is obviously still an area of high risk, so further to yesterdays announcement and Notice, our Parish Council Clerk has created a new poster that outlines what can be done to lower the risk:

That’s all for now folks – if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
Bob & Sarah #StaySafe
Hi Sarah and thanks for this. Did I hear whisper that those of us who had a long power cut will be refunded some money. If so do we have to claim it or will it automatically go back into our accounts?Perhaps someone out there knows. Jane.

Jane, ask Rachel Howe, I think she (or someone!) posted something on the village FB page on one of the threads during the powercut – an automatic £75 credit if I remember rightly…

SSE have confirmed with me that £75 will be coming in the form of a cheque during the next two weeks. If it hasn’t arrived after two weeks, we are advised to phone 105 and ask them what has happened to it!
