Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you up to speed with village matters during these extraordinary times.
Jackie Sanderson celebrates her 100th Birthday!
Celebrating any birthday during a pandemic lockdown is going to be a frustratingly quiet affair, even if – especially if – you have a telegram from the Queen! Friends of Jackie’s in the village nevertheless made sure she felt special on this incredible occasion, turning up very sensibly distanced on her drive to sing Happy Birthday and wish her well!
Banfield Recreation Ground to remain closed for the time being
The Parish Clerk has asked Buzz to publish a notice regarding the Banfield Recreation Ground, which you can download here: Playing field closed Coronavirus.
The Parish Council understands the frustration of residents with the closure of the Recreation Ground. The Council is following advice given by Wiltshire Council (and the Government) received at the end of March, that it should be closed until further notice. Wiltshire Council’s website is updated in accordance with the latest Government guidance: – scroll down to the section for Parks, open spaces, countryside and rights of way:
“Play areas and outdoor gyms where there is a higher risk of close contact and touching surfaces still remain closed in Wiltshire, please do not use these and do not allow your children to use these areas until further notice.”
Please be assured that the Parish Council will open the Recreation Ground as soon as it is permitted to do so.
Planning Matters
A reminder of the Planning Meeting via Zoom tomorrow evening Monday 18th May at 7pm to discuss Keevil School’s new application 20/03153/FUL to re-site the sheds, further to the temporary one-year permission granted a year ago (report here). Members of the public are welcome to ‘attend’ – you’ll need to register your interest with the Clerk by 7pm tonight and he will send you a link to the virtual meeting room. Household Recycling Centres reopen from Monday…
… for waste that cannot be stored safely at home or disposed of by other means. A postcode entry system will be in place so if you absolutely need to visit an HRC, make sure you’ve read the FAQs on Wiltshire Council’s website, and checked the table below. Social distancing will of course be necessary, and HRC staff will not be able to help you with your waste.
And finally…
A reminder to stay alert to the security of your home after CCTV on a property in the village picked up an intruder entering the grounds during the small hours earlier this week.
And a huge thank you for everyone’s INCREDIBLE generosity for the Foodbank – Janet has been blown away. Keep it coming, folks, every little definitely makes a massive difference in these terribly difficult times.
Over and out for now – if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
