Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – a quick update of anything that’s changed on our village website recently and a reminder of events coming up soon.
See Paul’s update on the apple press which has now been sold – it’s gone to a good home with an allotment/apple orchard group in Hilperton keen to try cider making, and the £400 raised has been divided among the most popular suggestions from the survey. Planting has already taken place, with lavender and rosemary behind the WI bench on the playing field – in a couple of years it will be an amazing sensory border!
The final total raised from the Art Show was an awesome £715 going to Dorothy House – image gallery now live, we so lucky to have such incredible talented artists in Keevil!
Did you miss the Annual Parish Council Meeting on Monday? There was an excellent presentation by councillors of some preliminary results from the Village Survey; the main presentation will take place on 1st July after the PC meeting, and you will be able to sign up to the various working groups that will look more closely at key issues. In the meantime, you can download the full data here.
Coming up…
- Tuesday 21st May is the first Keevil Bimblers bimble – if you fancy an easy short walk with lovely friends and neighbours, this is for you: only 2.5 miles steady, flat bimbling along the towpath of the Kennet & Avon Canal to the Bowerhill Residents Garden, up to the Pilot in Bowerhill for a coffee, then back to the towpath to the Barge for lunch. Contact Geoff West for details.
- Also on Tuesday 21st May it’s the 150th Birthday Celebrations of Keevil Primary School in St Leonards Church at 2pm – all residents are invited and there will be refreshments afterwards in the school hall. There should be ample time to get back from the bimble if you’re thinking of doing both!
- On Wednesday 22nd May the Boutique In A Bus will be parked up on the drive at Little Martins from 1.30pm – Rachel will also be serving tea and cake in aid of Dorothy House so do pop along.
- After last weeks fantastic 5 wicket league win against Lacock here at the Manor, Keevil Cricket Club could be on a roll! Catch them in action on the Manor ground all next weekend, with a league match against Trowbridge on Saturday 25th and a friendly against Gosport on Sunday 26th May.
Looking ahead…
The Keevil Ramblers walk on Wednesday 12th June has been amended, it will now start and end at the lovely New Inn in Westwood and is only 6.5 miles – see full details over on the Walking group page…
One of the highlights of our summer, the Church & Village Fete on 29th June in the Manor grounds – if you can help with items for prizes and stalls see the May Parish News for details. The KCC lads are also playing a league game at home, against Bradford On Avon, so double reason to head for the Manor that Saturday!
That’s all for now folks! Keep spreading the word with your family, friends and neighbours to FOLLOW THE BUZZ too!
