BUZZ ROUNDUP

Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with news and events in our wonderful village of Keevil come rain or shine.

As you’ll all know by now, consultation for the Keevil Airfield Airspace Change Proposal is underway, and some events have already taken place. This coming Monday 4th July, Capt Rob Goodman and WO2 Ronnie Jansen of the 47th Regiment RA project team will be attending the Parish Council meeting to provide a briefing and answer any questions villagers might have. The meeting will start slightly earlier at 7.00pm so that there is plenty of time during the Public Consultation session for this discussion. If you cannot attend but have a question or query, email Alex Goodwin or Sarah Dow before Monday evening. Full details and how to comment on the proposal are on the page.

Gerry Vaughan would like to pass on his sincere thanks to all the villagers, friends and families who supported his plant and vegetable sales, and also for the very welcome plants and pot contributions. He is delighted to report a total of £642 was raised for St Leonard’s Church Funds, the highest ever since he’s been running the CHURCH & VILLAGE FETE plant stall! He will still have some plants at the fete on 20th August (2pm in the grounds of Keevil Manor), along with any others which people may have donated.

Planning matters…

And finally…

Wiltshire Council today urged caution as local COVID-19 cases increase…

There has been a recent increase in local COVID-19 cases in Wiltshire, and with the summer holidays fast approaching, people are being reminded to take appropriate measures to protect themselves and those around them from illness. At the beginning of June the seven-day average of those with COVID-19 was 53.1 per 100,000 but in recent weeks that has increased to 171 per 100,000. You can keep up to date on the latest data via the Government dashboard at Cases in Wiltshire | Coronavirus in the UK (data.gov.uk).

The general advice is, if you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, and a high temperature or feel unwell, try to stay at home or away from others. There are also some simple things we can choose to practice in our daily lives:

  • get vaccinated
  • let fresh air in if meeting others indoors
  • practise good hygiene:
    • wash your hands
    • cover your coughs and sneezes
    • clean your surroundings frequently
  • wear a face covering or a face mask, particularly if you are in crowded and enclosed spaces

That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch

Bob and Sarah #StaySafe 🙂
