Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…
And just like that, January is behind us and rugby fever is about to set in with the Six Nations kicking off this Friday 2nd February at 8pm! All the matches are being screened in the village hall – everyone welcome, BYO drinks and nibbles, adults £2 each.
We also find ourselves bidding the fondest of farewells to our dear Wassail King… Bob has been part of TeamKV since 2017 and we can’t thank him enough for his help and unwavering support over the last six years. Typically antipodean, he’ll be back like a boomerang from time to time, but we’re going to miss our Aussie!

Also coming up…
- 1st TUESDAY CLUB is back with as much tea and cake as you can shake a stick at – or, come to think of it, that boomerang – so do drop in Tuesday 6th February 2.30–4pm in the village hall;
- And what’s not to love about a bacon butty on a Saturday morning? BREAKFAST IN CHURCH returns on 10th February 9-11am up at St Leonard’s;
- The WALKING GROUP holds its annual planning meeting for the 2024-25 season on Wednesday 14th February, 10.30am at Little Martins – all walkers welcome! And Barbara has a lovely bimble lined up on Wednesday 28th February around Caen Hill, with lunch at The Raven in Poulshot – all deets on the page;
- Also on 14th February the WI meet for a lovely supper night at 7.30pm in the Village Hall;
- Don’t miss the next deadline for the March edition of the Parish News on Thursday 15th February at 5pm;
- And on Monday 28th February the Mobile Library will be back outside Rose and Crown Cottages at Stocks Green, 10.35-10.55am.
KEEVIL’s D-DAY 80TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIONS
Plans are shaping up nicely… we’ll post more details here as we have them but for now here’s a shout-out from Colin for WARTIME MEMORABILIA…
As part of our D-Day commemorations we plan to set up a display in the Church. For part of this display we hope to exhibit wartime memorabilia treasured by villagers.
So, we are asking you to search your lofts, garages and cupboards for any wartime items you would be willing to lend to us for a few days. Ask your friends and family as well, please. This could be documents, photographs, clothing, hardware, models etc.
We know they are precious to you so any items we receive will be carefully catalogued and protected, and then displayed together with any supporting information you can supply.
Colin Dimbylow will be gathering this material. If you think you can help, please contact him on 07783448783 or cdimbylow@btinternet so we can get an idea of what you have and how we could display it. We would only need your actual items much nearer the June date.
Parish Matters
There’s a meeting of the Parish Council this coming Monday 5th February at 8.15pm in the village hall (after choir), including discussion of a planning application at 39 Main Street. Agenda on the PC website here, do come and let councillors know your views.

And finally.
By request, it’s with great sadness we write that Pat Banfield passed peacefully away at home in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with her boys by her side. Details of funeral arrangements to come in due course, in the meantime our heartfelt condolences to Robert, Bryan and all the family.
That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
