Welcome to another COVID-19 edition of BUZZ Roundup – keeping you up to speed with anything that’s happening here in the village during these extraordinary times.
It’s Easter, and we know a great many parishioners will miss being able to celebrate together on Easter Day in St Leonard’s Church were normally a bare wooden cross has been decorated with flowers to signify Jesus’ Resurrection. INSTEAD, Jane Knowles will have a bare wooden cross in her front garden (on the corner by Stocks Green) on Easter Sunday so why not bring a flower, a piece of blossom or foliage from your garden and place it in the cross as you go for your walk?
The Storehouse Foodbank have been delighted to receive the donations from Keevil! As well as shampoo and shower gel, which are still needed, they are now particularly short of tinned meat and vegetables so they would be particularly grateful for whatever you can spare.
Don’t forget the Minor Injuries Units MIU at Trowbridge Community Hospital is now temporarily closed while staff are redeployed to provide vital additional capacity elsewhere in the local area. Patients with minor injuries should visit the NHS 111 online service which will provide advice on where to go for the best care. People should only phone 111 if they cannot access the 111 online service. The nearest hospitals for emergency treatment are Bath RUH or Swindon Great Western.
And just to finish on a happy note, Myra Link writes on behalf of Gerry Taggart of the ‘Sappers to Arnhem’ cyling group of serving and ex Royal Engineers, who have cycled to Keevil to join our RAF Keevil Annual Service of Remembrance for D-Day and the Arnhem Operation for the last 10 years. Although Team Sapper is now being disbanded, they have raised over £20,000 for Help for Heroes over this time, quite insprational!
Our continued heartfelt thanks to all our friends and neighbours on the front line, and those helping in all sorts of small ways! Take care folks, stay safe and well, keep looking out for each other, and taking sensible precautions.
Bob & Sarah
Thanks for giving us a mention, Sarah.
Well, we’re not really disbanding – just sort of “chilling”! We’ve agreed to keep a link with lovel Keevil. How could we not!
Martin Snead will do a big swim, Tim and Ian (and maybe Annie) will do a bike ride for Samaritans, Rollo and I will do a couple of 10ks and ….
As to fund raising. Our account showed over £45,000 but the Chatham gang (under Steve Craddock) have raised over £200,000.
We’re still mad, still going strong individually and still big fans of Keevil (ahem , especially Myrah’s tea parties!).
All the best
Gerry
