BUZZ ROUNDUP

Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…

If you’re voting in the Police and Crime Commissioner Election today, don’t forget photographic identification is now a mandatory requirement. Accepted forms of photo ID include passports, photographic driving licences, biometric immigration documents, and certain concessionary travel passes. A comprehensive list can be found at Voter ID | Electoral Commission. Alternatively, if you have a Voter Authority Certificate (because you don’t have photo ID) you should bring that along to vote.

Also coming up…
  • There’s a Bank Holiday village walk-from-the-door over to Edington on Monday 6th May – this is a flat walk of 4.2 miles following footpaths and bridleways across fields to the Three Daggers where we’ll have lunch or you can stop in the Farm Shop for coffee and a spot of shopping… if you’re feeling up to it, we’ll walk back, but if you’d rather a more relaxed return just say and we’ll ensure there are enough cars over there beforehand for carriages home. Make sure you book in with Sarah so this and lunch numbers can be organised – deets on the page;
  • FIRST TUESDAY  is here again on Tuesday 7th May in the village hall 2.30–4pm, do toddle along for cake and a cuppa in the best of company.
  • Summer must surely be on its way if the 2024 KEEVIL CRICKET CLUB season is underway and its good to hear the sound of leather whacking on willow (to cheers or tears) again – next home game is a T20 on Wednesday 8th May, 6pm – more deets of all the fixtures so far on the page;
  • Keevil WI’s next meeting on Wednesday 8th May will be a Tour of Wiltshire Air Ambulance at 7pm;

Not coming up… 😉

Geoff West has gone and got himself a badly broken ankle and will have to take an enforced break from many of the fab things he organises for us until he’s recovered. So, Breakfast In Church on 11th May is cancelled, and the Salad Days lunch and May & June Bimbles are postponed. However, there will be a replacement bimble around Nunney on 18th June so keep that in your diary – details to follow. Wishing you a very speedy recovery, Westie!

LOGO_RVKEEVIL’s D-DAY 80th ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIONS

Loads of deets on the page for all events, don’t forget to book your ticket for the Dance Night on Friday – call Geoff on 870425 or drop Sarah an email to callymosh@yahoo.co.uk. And if you’re bringing a car to the Games Day on Saturday, make sure you pre-register your vehicle here

Volunteers needed! Paul is looking for First Aiders and Marshals on the Games Day (Saturday), and Janice would appreciate some help organising games at the Picnic, but an extra pair of hands is always helpful for any of the events, so if you’d like to be involved or have something to contribute, get in touch.

Parish Matters

The Parish Council hold its Annual Meeting on Monday 13th May at 7.30pm in the village hall, followed by the Ordinary meeting. Agenda will be here along with minutes of previous meetings;

The 2024 ANNUAL COMMUNITY EVENT & MEETING will be held on Friday 24th May from 6.15pm in the village hall. Open to all, with cheese, wine and nibbles, this is very much a community affair, with the first part of the evening dedicated to celebrating the groups and people that make Keevil such an amazing place, followed by the Parish meeting – this is NOT a Council meeting, but we will discuss matters on which they would like to hear residents’ views… see here for more on previous APCMs. We very much hope you’ll join in.

And finally…

DON’T FORGET TO ORDER YOUR TOMATO PLANTS! Gerry’s legendary plants will be available around the end of this month – he has Gardener’s Delight (cherry type), Alicante, and Ailsa Craig, plus a new cherry variety Red Cherry – all £1 each. There’s also a few other vegetables including courgettes, and French, runner and climbing beans. Please contact Gerry with your orders on 870191 or email g.vaughan54@btinternet.com – he’s happy to deliver plants in the village if needed, proceeds as always go via the Church Fete to St Leonard’s…

  1. Morning Sarah,

    Is there a way we can mention the Keevil school scarecrow trail on 18th/19th on the buzz page? I’m new to all this so apologies if I should have emailed you separately.

    With thanks,
    Caroline
