Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…
First up, a reminder of the road closure on Main Street starting tomorrow morning Monday 12th February. From what we hear the road might remain closed for the duration, although there should be footpath access. More details: Notice | Indicative Plan | Online at One Network. THERE WILL BE NO BUS SERVICE THROUGH THE VILLAGE during this time (thanks Rachel for the heads-up on that) – if you need the 76/77 Bus the nearest stops will be Great Hinton or Bulkington, timetable here.
There’s one other closure coming up on 18-19 March when the road will be closed on the Wick lane by Mere House to deal with works to the carriageway. There’s no alternative route so residents will get through but be warned of delays… deets: Notice | online at One Network

KEEVIL’s D-DAY 80th ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIONS
More details will be here as we have them but for now Colin has an open call for WARTIME MEMORABILIA for an exhibition alongside the Art Group in the Church… we’re looking for any wartime items – documents, photographs, clothing, hardware, models etc. that you would be willing to lend for a few days. We know they are precious to you so they’ll be carefully catalogued and protected, and ultimately displayed together with any supporting information you can supply. If you think you can help, please contact Colin Dimbylow on 07783448783 or cdimbylow@btinternet so we can get an idea of what you have and how we could display it. (We would only need your actual items much nearer the June date.)
Parish Matters
Officers from our Neighbourhood Police Team will holding a drop in session at Steeple Ashton Village Shop on Wednesday 14th February from 9-11am – a great chance to meet the team, have a cuppa and a chat or discuss any concerns… #yourforceyourarea
The next Parish Council meeting will be Monday 4th March at 7.30pm in the village hall – any remaining S137 grants or donations for the current financial year (ending March 31st) will be approved at this meeting, so requests will need to be with the Clerk by Monday 26th February: sarah@keevilpc.com
Now is a good time to get hedges and shrubs trimmed before the nesting season starts in March – especially if your garden borders our footpaths and pavements, many of which are historically old and narrow. Any overhanging shrubbery can quickly make them difficult to navigate, even more so once new spring growth gets underway.
And one more for your diary, the ANNUAL KEEVIL LITTER PICK will be Saturday 23rd March this year, starting from the village hall at 9.30am. We have some Hi-Viz waistcoats, picks and hoops to hold bags, but please bring your own if you have them. Bags will be provided and we’ll run the usual trailer service to take full ones to Cold Harbour crossroads where (hopefully) Wiltshire Council will arrange collection.
Please bring your own gloves and wear stout boots/shoes. If the weather is awful, we’ll go home! Teams will be allocated a route and should have at least one mobile phone between them. See you there if you can make it!

And finally…
Following the sad loss of Pat Banfield, Bryan and Robert would like everyone to know that her funeral will take place place on Wednesday 21st February at 2pm in St Leonard’s Church, Keevil. It will be preceded by the funeral processsion from Longleaze Farm (where parking will be available) at 1.45pm, and followed by refreshments in the village hall.
The boys would love to see as many friends and family as possible, so an idea of numbers would be really helpful, please get in touch with Robert directly, or let Sarah Dow know.
That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
