BUZZ ROUNDUP

Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or – well, to be honest, just rain, lately!…

Welcome to 2024 Keevilians!

Headshot-Joan

TeamKV is super glad to welcome Joan Booth as an administrator for the village website… Joan has managed her own digital channels in the past and she’s been taking care of day-to-day updates on the main site over the last month or so. We have some great new content plans in the pipeline – watch this space!

Notwithstanding the recent rotten weather, what a smorgasbord of Christmas happenings we had this season, thanks so much to everyone who helped out or joined in! Many photos here on the Christmas page. including the Coffee Morning, Carol Service, Christmas Lunch, and carol singing around the village. We’re sorry the collection of Advent Window photos is so small – Sarah went down with flu so her only pictures were a few taken on the way back to her duvet after catching the carol singers at the beginning of their village rounds. PLEASE PLEASE send in your own pictures if you would like them added to the galleries! (deets here)

Parish Matters

CC_Catherine_Roper.jpgThe next Ordinary meeting of Keevil Parish Council is this coming Monday 8th January 2024 in the village hall at 7.30pm. It will start with an extra public forum with Wiltshire Police Chief Constable Catherine Roper who will meet residents and discuss Neighbourhood Watch and rural crime, so do come along and take the chance to raise any concerns you might have. Agenda on the PC website here.

PLANNING: The Council will also be discussing a planning application at The Willow, 103 The Strand, and a Planning Appeal for Elmleaze Farm, Main Street – links and further information are here – please come and let councillors know your views on these matters.

Week commencing 15th January there will be a Military Medical training exercise on Keevil Airfield, see the airfield information page for more details and any further news as it comes.

And finally…

Graphic that says "storm advice" with a picture of rain on a road.

A massive shout-out of thanks to flood warden Paul Lenaerts and everyone else who was out on Thursday night or yesterday checking flood defences, alerting and checking on neighbours. Our community resilience volunteers are so often the unseen heroes who simply get on with things and we are truely grateful to them.

Fortunately we replenished our supply of aqua-sacs (bags that self-inflate when they come into contact with water) only a few months ago and we have plenty left for any further emergencies whilst we top up our stocks again. In the meantime, Wiltshire Council have published some links to resources which you might find useful:

That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch

  1. Sarah,

Can you please confirm your understanding for the school scarecrow trail 2024 dates? There was talk of a clash with a wedding in the Church, and I’d like to better understand that matter.
