Other Parish and Community Matters
The next Ordinary meeting of the Parish Council will be Monday 4th September at 7.30pm in the village hall Agenda 2023_09_04 Ordinary Meeting_v1.2.
Up for discussion will be the planning application at East Barton 55 Martins Road PL/2023/06788 and PL/2023/06954 (LBC) for proposed essential structural repairs to timber frame and associated areas, including replacement rear gable end frame; replacement of out of keeping conservatory with kitchen extension, single storey at rear; improvement to en-suite bathroom layout, door relocation; fireplace enhancement, chimney repairs and woodburner installation. You can view application documents here and here, comment on the application here and here;
If the thought of joining our team of Parish Councillors has crossed your mind, full details are on the councils website here – come to a meeting, talk to one of the team, get a feel for what’s involved…
Also, the PC would still like to hear your views on the future of the now redundant BT phonebox near Stocks Green (if you’re not familiar, this is an unsealed modern unit, not a traditional red kiosk). and also of the derelict Turnpike cottage on the corner alongside the A361 on the junction of Buzzely lane to Bulkington/Keevil: get in touch with Sarah Dow with any thoughts…
Update on the rebuilding of the School Wall: work on the school wall on Main Street is moving along, and Headteacher Lindsey Hermon is hopeful that any disruption will be kept to a minimum, and will be mostly complete by the time the new term starts on Monday 4th September. See page for more details…
And finally…
Our village community has been deeply saddened at the recent loss of treasured residents, and our thoughts are very much with their families at this time.
The family of Gerry Banks has asked us to let everyone know that his funeral will be on Monday 11th September at 11am in St Leonard’s Church Keevil, followed by refreshments in the village hall.
And following the sad death of Christopher Vernon, the family would like everyone to know that his funeral will take place at St Leonard’s Church on Monday 18th September at 2pm, followed by tea at Keevil Manor.
That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
