BUZZ ROUNDUP

Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…

First, a massive great THANK YOU from all the Roots team to everyone who helped make our inaugural Summer Festival a success – and especially to all the talented musicians who kept us entertained from day to night – some of us just didn’t stop dancing! Gallery live on the ROOTS website…

Stone’s Throw (generally known as “Ian Hunter’s band” here in Keevil!) closed the show in foot-stompin’ style!
Coming up…
  • Keeevil’s WI have a great summer lined up with a garden visit on 12 July and the members BBQ on 09 August, then all are very welcome at the next two meetings: 13 September Bat Walk at the Church and 11 October Wiltshire Air Ambulance with Simon Gough;
  • Next Saturday 15 July bacon butties are very much still on the menu with BREAKFAST IN CHURCH 9-11am at St Leonard’s Church. Then, after the CRICKET … it’ll be time for Music @ the Manor from 6.30pm and there’s still a few tickets left, deets on the page;
  • The MOBILE LIBRARY is back on Monday 17 July, 10.35 – 10.55 outside Rose & Crown Cottages;
  • On Wednesday 19 July the ART GROUP meet at 10-12.30 in the village hall – all welcome!
  • The next family-friendly walk-from-the-door with the Walking Group is Saturday 22 July – a really lovely circular toddle up to The Strand (so if you’ve ever wondered about the best route to The Lamb here’s your chance!) – see page for full details;
  • PLUS there’s a smashing little Bimble around Bradford-on-Avon & Avoncliff lined up for Wednesday 26 July – all deets on the page;
  • Don’t forget the Church & Village Fete on 12th August, and the Games Day on the Airfield the following Saturday 19th August

And with cricket one of the sporting subjects uppermost in our minds (move over Wimbledon, its still the Ashes!) – including that of our lovely Rector Jake (did you see his Reflection piece in the Parish News?) – let’s hear it for our own KEEVIL CRICKET CLUB – having about as much luck as England this season but it’s not over yet! Details of July and August fixtures on the page, next home game at the Manor ground on Saturday 15th August.

Other Parish and Community Matters

The next Parish Council meeting is this coming Monday 10th July at 7.30pm in the village hall: you can download the Agenda here: Agenda 2023_07_10 Ordinary Meeting of the Parish Council. There will be one new planning application to consider: PL/2023/05095 for a proposed rural workers dwelling at Woodhouse Farm, 98 The Strand, Keevil, BA14 6LL – application documents are here, you can comment on the application here.

Among other planning matters, Councillors will also discuss the proposed Wiltshire Design Guide, which will form an important Supplementary Planning Document for Wiltshire Council decision-making. The views of residents of small villages like Keevil are every bit as important as those of larger towns and parishes, so do participate in the consultation, and also come along to the Parish Council meeting to let councillors know your thoughts… consultation ends on 30th July.

Just as a reminder the Parish Council also publishes Community Notices on their website here as well as in the Parish News and on the village website and/or here on Buzz whenever possible.

And finally…

Casual Vacancy July 2023As reported in the last Buzz, there is a mid-term vacancy on the Parish Council: the Elections Officer has now confirmed that the council may go ahead with co-option.

And speaking as one who’s been there (who’s still there, just in a different role) – our council is a strong team that would really welcome and benefit from some genuinely fresh perspectives…

All you need to know is on the councils website here – or come and talk to one of us and get a feel for what’s involved…

That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
