Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine, even hailstones the size of footballs!…
NEWS JUST IN from Captain Jake Cox, operations officer for 7 (Trg) Regiment Army Air Corps in Middle Wallop, whos written to update us on the plans for Keevil Aerodrome over the next month. See here for the full notice of activity between 17 April and 11 May.
Andie has been busy with new content, working with Keevil’s WI to launch Recipe of the Month – first up is Chicken with Tallegio 🙂
With legendary cooking and baking skills – amongst many other considerable talents of course! – a few years ago, our WI decided to produce ‘WHAT’S INSIDE?’, their own cookbook containing some of their favourite recipes. Copies of this handy little tome are still available at £6 from Janice Maskrey (01380 870438) which all goes back into our local WI funds. Andie will feature one of the recipes on a monthly basis, and we want to say a massive thank you to our ladies for their generosity.
And while we’re in gratitude mode, a Great Big thank you to everyone who turned out on this years GBSC Litterpick – see here for Paul’s full report of another fruitful and rewarding morning 🙂

Other Parish and Community Matters
The next Ordinary PC meeting will be Tuesday 9th May in the village hall, starting with the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council at 7.30pm, followed by the business meeting.
One thing the Parish Council will be considering is whether the village would like a lasting commemorative item to celebrate and remember the Coronation for many years to come. There’s an idea to build an arbor around the WI bench on the Banfield Recreation Ground, and grow climbing plants up and around it… what do you think? please send any ideas, suggestions or comments to Alex, Geoff or Sarah who will bring them to the meeting, or come along on 9th and share your thoughts.
Don’t forget the Annual Parish Community meeting on Friday 26th May – in the village hall this year, with cheese, wine, tea and coffee served from 6pm. The Parish Council Chair will report to the parish at 6.30pm. Remember, the Community Meeting is NOT a council meeting, its just where the council has to deliver it’s annual report to the people it serves. It’s a community meeting that celebrates the groups and people that make Keevil such an amazing place to live, and where you can let your parish council know what you think their priorities should be – so do put the date in your diary and come join in. Any questions or enquiries >> Geoff or Sarah, contact details here.
And finally…
Just a reminder about the dog poo conversation – see longer notice here but, in a nutshell, there’s a couple of thoughts on the table to try and alleviate some of this perennial talking point…
- POO BINS: Not everyone knows that Wiltshire Council treat all litter bins as MIXED WASTE and you can put bagged poo in any of them – so the PC are in discussion with WC to move the smaller of the two bins on the footpath by the playing field to the beginning of Towmead Lane. WC may also be able to help with placing a bin in a second location, and with notices for all the bins so that it’s clear that bagged poo is ok. More to come as we have it, but it’s looking positive.
- POO BAG SCHEME: Steeple Ashton run a poo bag scheme which they say HAS helped to improve things, although not entirely eliminate the problem. It’s managed by a co-ordinator and volunteer network who each have an area to look after and refill with bags, with financial support from the PC to provide the bags and dispensers. If the Keevil dog walking community would like to run a similar scheme, do get in touch with our Parish Council.
Thoughts, ideas and suggestions about any of the above very warmly welcomed, get in touch with Alex, Geoff or Sarah
