Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village whatever the weather…
How quickly the time goes! Its Breakfast at the Church in the morning, and that means sausages, bacon and baps aplenty being served up at St Leonards Saturday 8th February from 9-11am – the perfect catch up with friends over a butty and a cuppa 🙂
The WALKING GROUP had a smashing walk around East Woodlands last month, great to see some new and familiar faces! The February ramble will now be an easy walk up to Salisbury Plain from Upavon on Tuesday 18th February, with lunch at The Antelope, Upavon. At 4.7 miles mostly on metalled byways, this is a great walk for just relaxing and taking in the fabulous views which, on a clear day, are worth every step! No stiles and easy underfoot all the way (bar one short muddy bit). See page for full deets, pre-orders will be needed by the pub so let Sarah know if you’re coming as soon as you can. Fingers crossed for the great weather we had on yesterday’s reccy!
Also note the walkers annual planning meeting is next Wednesday 12th February 10am annual meet at Little Martins – anyone is welcome (just let Rachel know you’re coming), its to talk about the 2025-26 walking programme.

LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS 1st MAY 2025
Local council elections happen every four years and are taking place this May, so there has never been a better time to get more involved with village life – we’d love to see some fresh faces representing our community! See keevilparishcouncil.gov.uk/get-involved/ for more information, or talk to Sarah (Clerk) or any of the current councillors…
Wiltshire Council are hosting a webinar next Tuesday 11 February 6-7pm to give prospective candidates an opportunity to hear from the election team directly, including the Returning Officer, and have any questions answered. Sign up here to attend, the link to join the meeting will be sent to you on Monday.
And finally…
Time for our February hedge-check! Many of the paths in our village are historically old and narrow, so any overhanging hedges or shrubbery can quickly make them even narrower, making a big difference to how easily or safely people can navigate them – and new spring growth is on the way. Now is a good time to trim hedges, trees, shrubs – and indeed do any work to your pond – before the nesting season starts in March and also when ponds start hosting breeding frogs, toads, newts and more.
If your garden borders a footpath or pavement, please check it and do what you can to help maintain accessibility around the village. The Community Shed doesn’t get involved with private garden work, but are always happy to offer advice if you need it.
That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
