
Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine… and after after practically every season in not much more than a week – snow, rain, hurricanes (certainly felt like it!), floods, and sunshine – winter is definitely here.
So what a relief that Christmas is just around the corner… quite literally in fact: the ADVENT TRAIL launch celebrations start tomorrow, Saturday 30th November, 6:30pm at Birch Cottage on Pyatts Corner. Everyone is invited, come and enjoy mulled wine and mince pies, and there’ll be treats for the children too!
So untangle the tinsel, break out the baubles, and fire up the fairy lights … time to start lighting our lovely village up for the best, most beautiful Christmas yet 🙂
Next on the Christmas & New Year calendar…
- FIRST TUESDAY Christmas Special this coming Tuesday 3rd December – along with tea and coffee there will be mulled wine, mince pies, stollen and other festive treats, come along for a cuppa or a glass and enjoy a chat with friends and neighbours, 2.30-4pm in the village hall;
- Keevil Wine Appreciation Club on Friday 6th December – bring a wine for Christmas at Beach House, contact Kim or David Finch for deets;
- CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING next Saturday 7th December 10-noon in the village hall – this annual event is always a warm, wonderful affair, with tea, coffee and mince pies, raffle, cake stall, Bring’n’Buy and more, raising money for the upkeep of St Leonard’s Church;
- KEEVIL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS UP Sunday 8th December 4.30pm at the village hall, switching on the lights on the Christmas Tree, followed by carol singing, mince pies and mulled wine in the Village Hall. Don’t forget to bring your star along to put on the tree;
- KEEVIL SINGERS CHRISTMAS CONCERT on Friday 13th December 7.30pm at St Leonards Church for another beautiful Christmas performance from our Keevil Singers, don’t miss it! More deets on the website as soon as we have them…
- BREAKFAST IN CHURCH CHRISTMAS SPECIAL Saturday 14th December 9-11am in St Leonard’s, come join us for a special Christmas Breakfast with the usual bacon or sausage rolls with tea or coffee, only £3 a head (no need to book), all profits to the Church Restoration Fund;
- CHRISTMAS LUNCH Wednesday 18th December from noon in St Leonards Church – a delicious, traditional three-course Christmas lunch with coffee & mints £12.50 each – book with Geoff and bring your own tipples;
- CHRISTMAS PUB NIGHT Friday 20th December from 6.30pm in the village hall: The George will be open for Christmas again this year! Three Daggers Real Ale, Lagers and Wine, free soft drinks, free admission, and everyone gets free sausage rolls and mince pies with first purchase! Just rock up and settle in for a natter with friends – families and children welcome, pub games available;
- NEW YEAR’S EVE DINNER DANCE Tuesday 31st December doors 7.30pm in the village hall: forget the crowds, come dine and dance on your doorstep and see the New Year in with the best neighbours in the world! Tickets £12.50 each, Geoff West is your man 🙂
Parish Matters
There will be a Planning Meeting of the Parish Council this Monday 2nd December at 8.15pm, agenda here and details of the applications here. The next Ordinary Meeting will be Monday 6th January 2025, when S137 donations, the next financial year’s budget, and setting the Precept will be key agenda items.
And finally…
For one, a big shout-out to our volunteer Flood Wardens who have been kept busy again recently! And to Pat Tucker, who raised more than £750 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance with her recent Cheese and Wine evening! In Pat’s words… ” A very convivial evening enjoyed by so many villagers. Thank you all for your support for this very worthy cause.”
