Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…

First up, just in case you missed it, FIRST TUESDAY has been cancelled this afternoon, it’ll be back on September 3rd… wishing Helen and Karin a lovely summer with their families 🙂

NPT posterNext, some news about Rural Engagement from our Neighbourhood Police Teams who will be bringing the Mobile Police Station to local villages this month – and they’ll be here on THURSDAY 22nd AUGUST, in Steeple Ashton in the morning 10-11:30, then Keevil 2-3:30 in the afternoon. Come along and meet your local police officers and PCSOs, find out about local crime stats, chat about any concerns you have, and bring the kids along for some colouring and stickers.

Further to the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) information that Paul Lenaerts passed on in the last Buzz Roundup, there is an energy efficiency event at County Hall in Bythesea Road tomorrow Wednesday 7th August from 11am-3pm if you have any queries regarding the scheme.

Coming up…
  • Stock up on your summer reading when the Mobile Library returns to Stocks Green next Monday 12th August 10:35-10:55am;
  • The next meeting of the Keevil Wine Appreciation Club has moved to Friday 16th August at Beech Cottage;
  • FIRST TUESDAY is back after it’s short summer break on Tuesday 3rd September in the village hall 2.30–4pm, the best place to enjoy a cuppa, great cake and a catch-up with friends and neighbours;
  • After next weeks members summer BBQ, the WI will be inviting non-members to join them for an evening of Belly Dancing with Wafaa on Wednesday 11th September – time to get your wiggle on folks!
  • In a real blast from the past, Beach House is generously opening it’s doors for The Beach Arms PUB NIGHT (a Fun Committee event) on Friday 13th September from 6.30pm;
  • RAF KEEVIL REMEMBRANCE will be on Saturday 14th September 12 noon at Stocks Green, do join this 80th Anniversary commemorative year for a special village tradition held annually to honour the memory of those who flew from Keevil airfield as part of the D-day and Arnhem operations; 
  • Deadline for the September Parish News is not far away on Thursday 22nd August at 5pm;
  • And don’t forget, the Walking Group has a smashing little yomp lined up around the Radstock countryside on Friday 27th September, with lunch at the delightful Faulkland Inn. It’s easy going with no stiles and you can be assured some fascinating insights into the area’s mining history from Tony Howe. Full deets on the page, let Rachel & Tony know if you’re coming.
Parish Matters

The next Parish Council Meeting will be Monday 2nd September at 7.30pm in the village hall – agenda will be here along with minutes of previous meetings, details of all full planning applications and their outcomes here. The Parish Council are still looking for a couple of villagers to help review our planning policy in the light of national and unitary changes, so if you are interested in planning matters and would like to get more involved with this side of village life, do get in touch with the Chair Alex Goodwin or the Clerk – all deets here. Also, if you have ideas for the long term development of the playing field, get in touch with Cara Naylor who is co-ordinating a Focus Group, full details in the July/August edition of the Parish News.
