Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…
We all heaved a sigh of relief when the rain just about held off for the Annual Church & Village Fete last month, so everyone had a fabulous time – there’s a few photos on the website, including some very interested young cows who seemed curious to see all the excitement. A big shout-out to the dozens of helpers who make this happen every year, we are incredibly grateful 🙂

And what a resounding success the Tower Teddies & Teas was, with an amazing total of £642.84 raised for the St Leonard’s Church roof repair fund – well done Rachel and her tremendous team of helpers, you smashed it! Full report and some pictures here on the village website…

Parish Matters
The next Parish Council Meeting will be Monday 2nd September at 7.30pm in the village hall – agenda will be here where you’ll also find minutes of previous meetings. The village website keeps a list of all full planning applications and their outcomes here, so its really easy for you to find information on new and past decisions.
Don’t forget, members of the Parish Council are looking for a couple of villagers to help review our planning policy in the light of national and unitary changes, so if you are interested in planning matters and would like to get more involved with this side of village life, do get in touch with the Chair Alex Goodwin or the Clerk – all deets here.
Also, Cara Naylor is co-ordinating a Focus Group to take a long term view of developing and transforming the Banfield Recreation Ground, so if you are interested and would like to contribute, do get in touch with Cara – full details in the July/August edition of the Parish News.
And finally… do you need a HUG?
… then Paul Lenaerts has a suggestion for you – read on as he explains a new scheme that might be of interest…
Wiltshire Council are working with EDF Energy implementing a Government scheme to pay for upgrades to homes in Wiltshire to make them more energy efficient and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The scheme will pay 100% of the cost of upgrades to homes in Wiltshire as long as certain criteria are met. These are:
- The property must be off the mains gas grid (easy in Keevil!)
- The property must have a low Energy Performance Certificate
- The household must have a combined income of less than £36,000 pa.
The scheme will mainly be applicable to owner/occupiers but can also apply to rented property. The most common reason for people to apply is that they want to replace their oil-fired central heating boiler with a ‘greener’ alternative, bearing in mind that after 2035, oil-fired boilers will not be available. The most likely alternative is the air-source heat pump, but there are other options such as solar panels.
The scheme is open for applications up to the end of October 2024 and there is limited funding on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The scheme has been running for some time now and I understand there is funding for a further 86 applications in Wiltshire. Wiltshire Council are finding it difficult to find takers for this grant and want to encourage applications before the deadline.
