BUZZ ROUNDUP

Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…

First, a big thanks to everyone who came along to the Community Open Evening on Wednesday, it was great to hear from our new airfield owners Colonel Brendan Shaw MBE and Mark Goodwin of Army Air Corps, Middle Wallop – and we have some incredible ideas to start planning a truly special programme of events to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Normandy Landings next June – watch this space!

It seems impossible, but the only thing left in the November calendar is the deadline for the December/January edition of the  VILLAGE MAGAZINE on 23 November at 5pm – don’t miss it!

So, let’s get to it! Before your diaries fill up completely, make sure there’s space for these fabulous festivities…

Coming up – the Christmas Diary roundup!

  • Kicking things off in style on Friday 1st December as Keevil starts to light up for the Advent Trail, the WI are hosting mulled wine and mince pies outside Birch Cottage on Pyatts Corner at 6.00pm – including Christmas treats for children, everyone welcome! If you’d like to join in with a window give Janice a quick call to see if there’s any numbers left;
  • The annual CHURCH CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING is back on Saturday 2nd December in the village hall from 10am – 12noon: Coffee and mince pies, raffle and more, raising money for the church’s upkeep;
  • Talking of St Leonard’s, don’t forget Sunday 3rd December 3.30pm is the Family Christingle service at the Church;
  • Stock up on your Christmas reading when the MOBILE LIBRARY returns on Monday 4th December outside Rose and Crown Cottages at Stocks Green, 10.35-10.55am;

  • The ART GROUP is back in the village hall at 10am on Wednesday 6th December, all welcome! I have a feeling some amazing projects will be getting underway… 😉
  • Saturday 9th December is a busy day! So get your Christmas jumper on and start your morning with BREAKFAST IN CHURCH 9-11am. Hot bacon or sausage butties washed down with a cuppa and Christmas carols playing in the background, just turn up and enjoy the company…
  • … then at 4.30pm lights on the Christmas tree outside the village hall will be switched on, with singing of carols, and refreshments in the Hall afterwards…
  • … and at 7pm that evening, we have the WELCOME to CHRISTMAS CONCERT  7pm in St Leonards Church with the Wiltshire Police Band, MGB, and Keevil Singers- see page for ticket deets;
  • After a brief pause while you get the brussel sprouts started so they’re nice and squishy on Christmas Day, on Friday 15th December a rare seasonal opening of The George for CHRISTMAS PUB NIGHT at 6.30pm in the village hall;
  • Last on the list (for now anyway) a lovely traditional CHURCH CAROL SERVICE on Monday 18th December at 6.30pm in St Leonards Church.

Finally, thanks to Keevil School for giving us the heads-up about the following events at school or St Leonards and to expect some extra parent traffic around these times:
