Welcome back to the BUZZ Roundup – keeping you in touch with happenings in Keevil village come rain or shine…
Right, some good news for anyone who lost a plant or six over the winter – Gerry’s Plant Sale is back on this Saturday 3rd JUNE 10am – 4pm!
As the village fete isn’t until August, Gerry Vaughan is holding a plant sale again this year at Little Talboys, 12-13 Main Street. Gerry tries to offer plants around half the price you would pay at a garden centre, and they are fabulous value. Do come along with your friends – all proceeds to the church and village fete.
Also, if you have anything spare, Gerry is always delighted to receive any plant contributions from villagers to sell on the day, plus if you have any empty plant pots going spare, recycle them in Gerry’s direction, he could use a few more for potting up all his growing babies. You can reach Gerry on 870191 or g.vaughan54@btinternet.com if needed.
And if you miss Gerry this weekend, he will be at the Keevil Roots Festival with his plants on Saturday 17th June, in the afternoon on the Recreation Ground.

ROOTS Festival parking – message from the Roots team…
As most folks are aware, parking for our Roots Festival has been arranged in the field next to the Recreation Ground (entrance at the end of Martins Road): Blue Badge and Evening Ticket holders will go free, a cash fee is asked for everyone else in order to help meet the cost of the festival this first year as we have no bucket of funds to draw on. There will also be a drop-off point by the village hall for those that need it.
We will be doing everything we can to ensure a freeflow of any traffic through the village, and avoid opportunist parking. To this end, residents in Martins Road, Martins Lane, Pyatts Corner and Butts Lane will have received an insert in the latest magazine – this is for those who have little or no off-street parking of their own, to display in their vehicle on the day of the festival so that our volunteer stewards, who will make the rounds periodically, can distinguish any non-residents.
More information here or call Geoff West on 01380 870425.
AIRFIELD NIGHT FLYING Notice: 7AAC Out of Hours use of Keevil Airfield
A heads-up from the new airfield Operations Officer 7 (Training) Regiment Army Air Corps on some imminent Apache night flying training this week and possibly into next:
Due to essential operational training we would like to apologise in advance that we will have to use Keevil Airfield up to 0130 (am) on Wednesday 31st May, Thursday 1st June, and possibly next week Monday 5th to Thursday 8th June.
We will try not to go past the normal midnight timing, however, our slip sorties training may mean we need to. This means if our first aircraft don’t achieve what they need, the following a/c slip sorties will have to go into the airfield.
And finally…
It looks like some of the road on Common Hill in Steeple Ashton may be closed next week for up to two weeks from 5th – 16th June, so there will be a diversion in place along Hinton Lane and through Cold Harbour… see https://one.network/?GBTMI26568978
That’s all for now folks – find us on Facebook for real-time discussions on Keevil Village, marketplace on For Sale, Free or Wanted in Keevil, or wander down memory lane on Keevil Memories… thank you for all your support, and if you have any news, pictures or stories to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch
