And what a Coronation weekend that was! We might have got a bit wet putting the gazebos up on Saturday morning, but everything else went pretty much to plan, from the brilliant Pub night at The George, to the fabulous Street Party and then a smashing Service & Tea at St Leonards to round things off. Thank you to everyone who pitched, baked, coloured, sewed, decorated, served, cleaned, swept, washed, prayed, came, ate, drank, talked, toasted and helped in a hundred other little ways that made our community celebrations something truly special. Some photos in the gallery here, if you have any others you’d like to add, just email Sarah

CORONATION COMMEMORATIVE

The Parish Council are considering whether the village would like a lasting commemorative item to celebrate and remember the Coronation for many years to come. One idea is to build an arbor around the WI commemorative bench on the Banfield Recreation Ground, and grow climbing plants up and around it… please send any ideas, suggestions or comments to Alex, Geoff or Sarah who will bring them to the next PC meeting in May.

Friday 5 May 6.30pm – Coronation Pub Night at The George

To kick off this historic weekend, our village hall will once again be transformed into our familiar pop-up hostelry, The George from 6.30pm – 11.00pm on Friday, 5 May. As you know, these are family-friendly, drop-in evenings. So just turn up, relax and enjoy your chosen tipple in good company – free Coronation Chicken & salad with your first drink.

Saturday 6 May 3.30pm – Street Party around the village hall

Keevil WI are planning a street party which will take place from 3.30pm on Saturday, 6 May in Institute Road (at the side of the Village Hall). This is a community celebration and, therefore, all are welcome. Plans include children’s goody bags and activities as well as a bountiful supply of sandwiches and cake! Please bring a plate to share. Coronation events will be live-streamed throughout the afternoon on the screen in the village hall, so you won’t miss a thing!
