October 2019

Our October meeting gave us all a chance to learn more about how to take good pictures on our mobile phones. I think we all learned something new to enhance those precious moments we capture on our mobiles.

The next WI Meeting will be held in the hall on Wednesday November 13th. There will be a short business meeting followed by a demonstration on felting and a chance to have a go at this lovely craft.

Our December meeting will be a Christmas buffet at the Long’s Arms, Steeple Ashton on the 11th December. Would anyone who wasn’t at the October meeting and who would like to go please let one of the committee know so we can add you to the list.
If you would like to join the WI please consider coming along to one of our meetings you will be very welcome and remember you only need to be a stranger once!

Keevil, let us light up the village again this year! For 2019 we will arrange the light-up dates in blocks eg. Pyatt’s Corner / Main Street from Stocks Green / Martin’s Road/ Martin’s Lane / Butts Lane/ top of Main Street and add anywhere I haven’t mentioned to those areas. We felt this would make it easier for people to see the windows if they were following the trail. A map of the windows will be available this year before the 1st December. On Christmas Eve the WI are asking permission to decorate and light up the gate at the church.

There is no theme apart from Christmas and all we ask is that somewhere on your window is a number and that you are able to light up your window each night until the 24th starting at the date you are allocated. Please remember not to use real candles.

If you would like to help light Santa’s way please contact Jan Maskrey 01380 870438 as soon as possible to add your name to the list.

We look forward to a sparkly, twinkly village in December…

We’ve captured as many images as we could find/whose light were on when we were out (thanks Sarah and Bob). Feel free to supply your own images if you have them.

Christmas fayreUPDATE: Download the list as a PDF so you can print and take it with you around the village and tick off the lovely Christmas windows! Keevil WI Advent Trail_updated 11th Dec

Thank you to everyone who has offered to decorate a window for our Advent Trail, I’m sure the village will look wonderful with 24 windows lit up to celebrate Christmas in Keevil. I will be sending  a note to all participants with the details of dates etc. before the end of the month. I will also produce a list of where to find the windows for anyone wanting to following the trail.

During the village carol singing on Friday 21st December we will be able to see many of the windows already lit, please come along on the night and enjoy refreshments in the church at 6.45pm and soup provided by Keevil WI  in the hall at 8.30pm. with carol singing in between.

Our January meeting will be held on Wednesday 9th January in the village hall. We are showing the film “Suffragette” and having a fish and chip supper.
