We all see the Wiltshire air ambulance flying over Keevil but how many of us stop to think where it’s going and what is the outcome? I recently experienced firsthand what this amazing service means and we are very lucky to have it. At our April meeting we had a talk from the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Service and we were amazed at how much this wonderful service costs and how much needs to be raised each year to keep it going.
As we are a small W.I. we now find large fundraising events difficult so this year we have chosen to support the food bank in Trowbridge with an emphasis on providing items for women and children as well as food items.
Our May meeting was our annual Resolutions where we are are asked by the National WI to discuss two topics which will then be used to lobby the government to take action. The topics this year were to preserve local, rural bus services and to encourage more women to attend smear tests. As usual we had a lively debate which was followed by “Desert Island Discs” where the tables were turned and Jane Knowles was in the spotlight.
Our June meeting will be in the village hall on June 12th at 7.30pm. There will be a short business meeting followed by a talk from Grace Dalgleish on Creative Minds.
Future events are a talk by Jane Palmer who will be telling us all about her trip to the Holy Land at our July meeting, a late afternoon picnic at the WI bench on the playing field and in August a visit to the Courts in Holt followed by lunch.
Our committee is now as follows, please consider coming along to one of our meetings ….. We might surprise you.
Jan Maskrey – President
Gill Gosling – Treasurer
Sue Dimbelow – Secretary

The WI no longer has the reputation of jam and Jerusalem and in Keevil we have a very active WI. Our programme for the next year has been put together and will be on the village website shortly, we have Darren Partridge coming to talk about his work as a small animal vet in September, Darren spoke a few years ago at a Keevil Society meeting and was very informative and entertaining.
We held our AGM on March 13th followed by members favourite poems, nearly all were amusing and we all enjoyed the evening. The next meeting on April is a talk on Wiltshire Air Ambulance, if you would like to join us in the village hall at 7.30pm you will be very welcome.
It is looking very springlike in the village and once again the snowdrops are are making their appearance. We celebrated Valentine’s Day one day early by having a Valentine Bake Off and foodie quiz for our February meeting, there were some amazing cakes and bakes to be sampled and a winner was chosen so congratulations to Pauline Bennet for her wonderful heart shaped lemon cake.
Our meeting in March is the AGM 7.30pm in the hall on March 13th.
